Annual General Meeting Fitzroy Adventure Playground Inc

Members of Fitzroy Adventure Playground Inc are reminded that the AGM is scheduled for Monday 16 October 2017. Agendas and annual reports have been circulated to you by email.

The meeting will be the final step in the transition of Cubbies which is now run by to Save the Children Australia.

Members will be asked to consider resolutions for the winding up of our incorporated association after 43 years of service to the children of Fitzroy.  The Committee wishes to pay recognition to the founders of Cubbies, especially Joan Healy the founder of Cubbies and Tricia Szirom.  To all past staff, especially the managers who lived Cubbies on a daily basis and to our volunteers a big thank you.

To all of the donors who have supported the work of Fitzroy Adventure Playground we would encourage you to get behind Save the Children and the programs that they run at Cubbies.  Any funds that the Committee holds on winding up will be passed on to Save the Children Cubbies account.

We were delighted last week to pass over to Save the Children the connection with Gertrude Players who will be supporting Cubbies again this year with proceeds from the Big Sing songbook and program. Also recently we provided an introduction of the Australian Communities Foundation to the Save the Children team.

Playscape opened by Hon Richard Wynne MP

Friday 9 June saw the opening of the new playscape at Fitzroy Adventure Playground by the local member for Richmond the Hon. Richard Wynne.

In commenting on the Government’s support for the project, Minister Wynne said:

“The Fitzroy Adventure Playground is an integral part of the local community, and the Andrews Labor Government was more than happy to put forward the grant.

“Cubbies do great work providing the local children, many who may not have their own backyard, with a safe place to play and enjoy time with their friends.”

Safety Our First Priority

The new playscape is growing by the day.  Today we had a visit from staff from playground auditors DMC who advised on modifications that would make Coal Flowers playscape safe for the children using it.

Every day it is becoming more exciting to see Coal Flowers coming out of the ground.
